Note that the stove you had growing up and a modern stove will burn quite differently. Fully seasoned dry wood is the key to success.
 
That won't be a problem. I live on 5 acers and can cut and dry all year
Hey Jwal, welcome. Whichever insert you decide to purchase, it will require well seasoned wood. My advice is tap into that 5 acres and start cutting, splitting and stacking wood now. Most wood needs at least a year of seasoning before being burnable in a new EPA certified wood burning appliance. Good luck!
 
Allow a couple years seasoning after it is CSS for oak and hickory.
