Newbie...when to replace Dutchwest Catalyst

I have been using the 2461 stove for 3 years with no problems,regular cleaning. How do I know when to replace catalyst? Thank you

I should add, I burn about 5 cords a year,mostly ash.

If the catalyst is treated right and kept clear it could last for several more years. Change it out when it no longer comes up to temp.
