First off I want to say HI, and thanks for the wonderful site. I've been hanging around for a little bit but haven't really posted much.

Anyway, I just got done installing my Summer's Heat (englander) Pellet stove, it's the smaller one (heats 1500 sq. ft.) can't remember the model # right now. I actually work for Lowes as the OPE specialist and I've sold countless numbers of Pellet stoves this year, so it's nice to actually have one installed in my home.

Firstly, I didn't realize how intense the burn in would be.....the first hour or so it set off the smoke alarm a few times even with a window open and a fan blowing. I let it burn about 2.5 to 3 hours on setting 5, then had to shut down because I was leaving the house. It's since been burning another 2 or so hours, while the smoke is all but gone, I still have the odor. Just wondering how long I can expect to smell the stove?

Install is pretty typical and everything went fairly smooth...used Simpson Duravent 3" pipe, and sealed all connections with fireblock hi-temp silicone. I have the appliance adapter into a 45, then 1' out to clean-out tee outside, then 3' up, 90 degree away from house then my cap(downspout) Now the only thing is that in some places the pipe only has about a 2.5" clearance to my siding. So what I did was get a piece of 22 gauge steel 8"X24" and screwed it to my siding behind the pipe. I'm thinking that should prevent any issues the smaller clearance would cause. Just throwing this out there in case anyone sees any red flags, but I attended a 2 hour class with an Englander Stove rep and I believe I'm in pretty good shape. I'll get some pictures of my setup on here in the next couple days.

So far, I'm loving it....throws some good heat.............just can't wait for the odor to subside!

The smell lasted between 6-8 hours for me. Firing it up outside would've been a great idea, but hindsight is always 20/20 ;-)

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new stove.
Note: yes, we do expect pics or it didn't happen...jk ;-)
