Been burning less than a year and I seem to have discovered something....
More dust in the bag = more ash in the box.

Agree?

No. The "dust" in the bag is simply what we call "fines"....sawdust from the pellets rubbing together, and/or the manufacturing process. It has nothing to do with ash content. Pure coincidence if it seems to correlate.

I have a lot of fines in this load of Lignetics, also a very large amount of ash, more than any other I've burned. The fines seem to burn on the way down the chute (top feeder) and make dark brown dust which just brushes away. So, I don't think my fines are creating more gray ash, but they are creating a fine brown ash in the chute. The ash must be coming from the pellets themselves - and there's a lot of it!
