Next week forecast calling for double-digit below zero temps. Does it make any sense to unhook my OAK when it gets extremely cold outside? My old house has plenty of available air, to recirculate. Just a thought, it's my first winter with pellet heat and I need some advice.

I only unhook in extreme wind as it plays havoc with the vacuum switch. Never had an issue with even the very cold air temps(-20::F). Frost is all I have had issues with. I have a little metal pan to catch the moisture when it melts off as it warms. Not an issue with mine as its a basement dweller.

Leave it hooked up. As Jay says, if condensation forms, use a drip pan. Or, you could get a roll of wrap-around insulation for it.
