    does anyone here know if its important to use oxygen barrier pex (vs non barrier) for heat pipes?

    Recommendations on that vary, but the general consensus seems to be yes. In any event it's better to be on the safe side and won't cost you that much more.

    In a closed system yes, in an open system no.
