Here's what I've scrounged so far in 2011. It's been easier than in past years. First was a neighbor down the street who had some storm damage from heavy/wet snow in late Jan - got some maple, ash and sycamore from that one. Then a nice CL score not too far from me two weeks ago - got some more maple, oak, and poplar. Finally, on the way home from work yesterday, noticed a tree crew taking down some oaks, stopped and asked what they were doing with the wood. After some botched communications with some of my favorite hispanic brothers, came to the conclusion it would be OK to take it. Didn't have time to do that yesterday, but went back today and got two pickup truck loads. I've lost count, but I'm somewhere around 9-10 pickup truck loads....so by my math, that's about 3 cords. Pics show the bounty. Now to get it split and stacked...coming soon (he said confidently).
