Hello I recently purchased a quadrafire cape cod for $150.00 and plan on refurbishing it.It's in great shape except for some broken bricks ,no biggie.I'ts missing the wear plates however. Are they really necessary ? If so i'll make some .Parts are way expensive for this stove. Through research most common parts such as gaskets bricks and insulation can be had for a fraction of the cost . I recently refurbished an Isle royale, and i haven't decided which one I will keep.Which ever one I choose, will be used to heat a small ranch . Any opinions? I currently own a Pacific Energy Alderlea T6 Great stove ! Haven't had to pay for heating for 7 years!

The wear or burn plates are important protection for the outer cast wall. If they are shot they should be replaced.
