My quadrafire 1000 is putting out extremely large flames the fuel adjustment all the way down and am using standard pellets from local mill. I tried adjusting the plate on the fan on the lower left of my unit but the flames are still way too big for the recommended amount. I am still using my clay firepot but I see some hairlines cracks forming after a thorough cleaning today but it is not about to fall apart. My altitude is at nearly 10000' I don't know if this has something to do with it. I've never had the stove flame to the perfect 2"-4" height above firepot recommended by Quadrafire but lately it seems to really be burning like a wildfire! I was thinking about modifying my fuel adjustment plate to a smaller size by welding a small extension but I thought I'd see if you folks have any other recommendations (I have tried all suggestions from quadrafire manual)? Could it be a leaky door gasket allowing too much air in?
