Oh hi,

I have a question about the free standing Summit. I have the Summit insert. It has 2nd metal top on top of the stove. Currently the thermometer above the door reads 650 but my stovetop thermometer reads 250. Does the free standing summit have the extra top? Even when the door thermometer read 750 the top maybe reads 300. I am somewhat confused.

thx,
Glen

Here's a pic of the freestanding Summit.

I don't know why your front temps are higher than your top temps though. I observed the opposite on mine.

On the insert the decorative bay top is not the actual stove top. There is an air gap between it and the stove top so it won't get as hot.

Use the above the door location for your guiding stove temps and you will be fine.

Thank-you thank-you thank-you...now I understand what is going on.

thanks again!
