And one last rambling rave here. These stoves will run themselves just like a central HVAC system. Set it and forget it. Pick a temp and it will keep you there. Just throw bags at it once or twice a day depending on the outside temps. You can also work it in tandem with your Central HVAC system since each has their own stats per see.

What is the best way to run the pellet stove tandem with the central HVAC system? I am kind of new at this, I have only had my pellet stove in for 5-6 weeks.

I wouldn't recommend running an HVAC with a thermostat and a pellet stove in a temperature mode. You have two automatic control systems working to control the same thing (temperature) and they'll be over adjusting for the affect of the other one if the sensing points are near each other. System engineers never put two control systems in parallel for that reason. It creates an unstable system.

I tried it in my home and it created greater temperature swings in this mode and a lot of up and down cycling of my pellet stove. Highly inefficient.

That said, you can run the pellet stove in a stove mode and your central heating system in automatic (temp control). You can balance how often the central heat runs by adjusting the pellet stove heat output. At most I adjust the pellet stove a few times a day based on outdoor temperatures with this setup.

More of just supplemental heat working in tandem (working together) or helping the central system. Or you can chose which system you want to do most of the heating. jp99 covered it well in his last sentence above. I guess tandem might not have been the best word to use.

Well, the best idea is to consult a specialist if you want to do a great job not just to ruin your money and house
