I'm considering replacing an old (1980?) "Webfab Pioneer wood/coal" stove with either a Jotul 118...or a new, but discontinued model, Regency Warmhearth fireplace. Any experience with this Regency? I've heard the fan can be noisy, and it doesn't kick out much heat (despite rated for 70,000 BTU/hr) without the fan. The install is in a partial alcove, and we're heating 1500sqft of a townhouse.

These are two very different options and profiles. If heating is the main goal, the 118 (older vintage?) may do a better job and certainly it will be quiet. But there are many other good stoves to consider depending on the final goal.
