I just moved into a house with my first fireplace. At the top on the flat surface there are a lot of cracks. My neighbor says I need a sealant that is brethable but does not know the name. Any help would be nice.

Thanks ahead of time.

Sometimes there can be deeper problems. What does the chimney crown look like? How is it's condition? Can you post some pictures?
