I have a lot of sweet gum, to skip splitting, will it season in 2 years (2 summers)a log 4-6inches ?

2 years should be fine

Yeppers, 2 years and your good to go.
Keep good air flow (not up next to a building or fence) and out in the sun is a big +

Good 2 years it will be.

With BIG sweetgum (say 16" rounds), I saw them into quarters with a chainsaw. Then I offer up the shavings on Freecycle and someone else is happy too! (Basically its just an excuse to get the MS460 out)
