Smoke detectors actually look at dust particulate in the air.
Could it not be caused by something else?
Ceiling fan blowing dust? etc.
 
My first thought in reading the first couple of posts from heffergm . . . new install of some sort and this was the oils/paint curing as the stove reaches a higher temp or temp high enough to reach the point where the oil/paint are being affected.

My opinion . . . keep an eye on things, but I suspect you will not have any further issues.
 
Did the person / installer of the stove not warn you that there would be some initial curing of the stove's paint? If not, I would be pissed!
