there is plenty of this, nice and straight, which leads me to believe it is softwood. A lot of the good stuff has already been taken.

Cut it, split it, burn it.

It looks good to me. Looks like 2 different types. The bigger stuff looks like pine. If it's pine, you should be able to smell it when you cut it.
 
Soft Maple (silver I'd bet!)
 
The wood sort of looks looks similar western larch, also called tamarack.
