The pics taken outside -this AM in crappy weather- are White Oak taken down by a gust late this summer. Seems to me you don't have to get too close to see the rays.

The pics taken inside my 'boiler room' are a mix of Red & White Oak. I thought the last pic was the most interesting. It is a classic Red Oak chunk . . . straight grains visible in a layer of rotted wood around the circumfrence. But you can easily miss the rays. They're there; their visiblity is very faint though.

 
Looks like some great firewood to me. You have a winner. That little bit of rot is meaningless.
 
should make good firewood some day
