Its going to be quite a discount compared to the 269 I paid this year
OMV did you say he raised the price to 279?
I paid 269 this year and 259 last year.
Even at 269 they are worth it, less time having to clean my stove.
You gave a good price, I would come get 3 ton next year from you, but too much of a hassle trailering from your house to mine.
He is landing them for about $240 with freight C'mon now, the man's gotta eat
All the ct dealers should get together and order a train-load full to fill their warehouses. For all brands. 1 full train could get them here pretty cheap.
Now you guys that came here for a ton KNOW where the price came from
that aint proof they could of came from CTPellet for all you know
In theory, its really that simple.....
But its a very common misconception. You see, any time you rail pellets in by train, it usually costs more money than trucking them, unless it is a couple thousand miles, like Brittish Columbia. Pellets are trucked from the manufacturer's yard to the nearest short-line railroad....This will run us about $20/ton minnimum. Then they are unloaded and then re-loaded into a warehouse. Another $5-7 per ton for handling and storage. Then the train car gets loaded and taken from a short-line to a main rail like CSX or BNSF....Yawn....Another chunk of money depending upon which line, but expect it to be about $40/ton each track. Then the train car gets unloaded and held at a warehouse $5-$7 per ton. Then everyone says "Holy Sh*t!", abpot 10% of the pellets are broken and spilled all over the train car. (It really happens!) Then, the pellets get put onto a truck (Another $20/ton) and taken to us dealers in CT who try to sell them for more than we paid for them....Not all that easy in reality.
Think I will continue to get mine at Menard's!! $175.00/ton and they load the trailer for free!!
Today i was behind a tractor trailer carrying wood pallets. i was like man the cost to truck only that amount of pallets the fuel gotta cost more then their worth
Ya just gotta rub it in don't cha!
I've see that before also OMV...Never could figure out what they were doing other than spending lots of cash on fuel!
What they were doing is bringing a few pallets back from deliveries that they just made. I have a truck driver that brings Hamer pellets in to me and he has a pallet-refurbishing business that he does out of his house. When he comes here, he gives me $1 for all of my pallets. Most of them are good and re-usable, and others need some refurbishing. He will take them all, fix the crappy ones and then sell them all back to Hamer for probably $3 or $4 each. He grabs a hundred or so pallets each time he is here and it is his Christmas money for his kid's presents. I even give him November's and Decembers for free because he will sometimes unload his truck for me.
Believe me, this is very common. Nobody will pay a trucker to roll his truck to deliver 100 pallets as original freigh, but many truckers pick up pallets as an afterthought.t.
tell him to bring me a few ton of hamers, i will give him a full load of pallets
I'm saving mine.
I have 5 now. 1 is starting to rot. lol
I have a better chance of finding Bigfoot than finding Somersets where I am.
All YOUR empties will take him 2 trips!
According to some "believers", those still are not horrible odds.
True, I am in the boonies with plenty of water and woods around. Technically it's a pretty 'squatchy' area.
Yep. That show is a hoot!
We think its a hoot too!
Now that the east coast is stealing the somersets, I now have to buy greenways.
I still have a ton stashed from Lowes in apr 2010, saving them for the cold jan, it's a shame they wont sell them in Ct, but will sell them in SE Mass/Cape Cod, stupid they will ship around Ct!!, It must have something to do with the A-hole Lowes management
Only place I seen em this season was Danbury. Too far for me to haul em!
Thanks Jay for there at least in Ct update~!
