Can I still buy the Sotz kit for converting 55 gallon barrels into a woodstove?



Answer:

The Sotz barrel stove may not be available as such, but Northern Hydraulic sells a "kit" of cast iron parts for about $50 that you can attach to a pair of 55-gallon drums to make the old stove that's described at the end of digest #1. I happen to know someone who uses one of the original ones. She has to replace the steel drums every few years, but has had little maintenance beyond that.
