I learned from the master. I'm not as good yet but am improving.
The pictures of your stacked wood are great teaching aids ;)

The masters are zap and Highbeam. Then comes Bogydave. Sad, but I am way down the list but I don't mind at all.

No Sav, I'd say you are right up there with the others mentioned.....all worthy of a bow, if you ask me....

Good job, Dave. If you write instructions on how to stack so neat, please put me on the waiting list.

You know those are good pics when you go through the pictures about 3 times before realizing they're the same 3 you were looking at!

I followed Dennis's (BWS) pictures of his stacks & a few others. I can't drive in metal fence post like Zap, too rocky where I stack, but his are perfect.

When I get better, I'll try to stack as good as PapaDave; The wood stack "gold standard": http://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/last-of-the-log-load-part-2.76339/
    :)
All I have to show off is the view ;)

Nice job. I need to buff up on my wood guesstimations skills because looking at your photos I would guess that to be more than 1.3 cord.

At least my C/S/S wood should be drying well with these conditions. Humidity has been in the 30s & 40 for a while.
    33% right now.

Red Flag Warning starting tomorrow afternoon. Burn ban is in effect.
    3rd one we've had recently.

20 mph winds (gust to 30), RELATIVE HUMIDITY...25 TO 30 PERCENT

Low humidity & wind + dead - dry grass & brush everywhere = Fire danger.
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE IMMINENT OR OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY

I did a walk off measurement & guesstimate. Maybe more there.
I'll measure it. Be right back.

    35' long, average 4'-5" high, 17" splits.
    35 X 4.41 X 1.41 = 217.6 cubic ft ÷ 128 = 1.7 cords.
You were right. Now I have more wood :)

He has to feel better now because his wood stack grew. I've been planting them for years and never had one grow yet. Maybe there is something about the Alaskan weather?

Over 17 hours of sunshine now, Spring cut wood, maybe the tree is still growing even after C/S/S. :)

Halligan: I do feel allot beter now, it was a 2 day 8 ibuprofen C/S/S project. I should have known it was more. ::P

Dave, maybe there is something to all that sunshine after all?! Well, it works on the vegetables so why not the wood pile?
