I am looking at a used Jotul 500. It was left outside under a tarp, however there is moisture inside the stove and water in the firebox and ash tray so the tarp must not have worked very well. I'm told they just recently pulled the stove from the house and it hasn't been out long. There is a little surface rust inside the stove.

Could the moisture cause troubles down the road? Rust? Cracking?

Thanks

All parts of the stove are fairly heavy cast iron. I don't think a bit of surface would hurt anything. I would clean down the inside and look for signs of overfireing. Cracks in the floor, etc.
