well look at this the difference in the gauges on my stove pipe readings.

stove pipe temp gauges Imperial (lowes) vs Rutland VS IR Gun guage

The hand held IR temp Gun read 540F

wow talk about a buncha differences! i go by the rutland since its closest to the IR, this imperial from lowes is just way overboard.. bet it makes people panic!

anyone else have this large of gauge differences?

They both are poor examples of a thermometer. I personally use a Tel-Tru that is always spot on with the IR. I have found the Imperial (Rutland) to be off as much as 100 deg. Here it's off by 50.

$47.74 + shipping. Pay once. Get what works.

Tel-Tru Model: DM Dual Magnet Thermometer DM-Dual Magnet Thermometer DM 50/750 degrees F and 10/400 degrees C

$75 to my house... :-(

(couldn't resist the high temp indicator option, never know what is going on down here when I am upstairs asleep)

We've had good luck with condar but not rutland. The condar is usually within 30 degrees of the IR.
