These things migrate along the Pacific coast but one got mixed up somehow and flew along the eastern Lake Michigan coast. Arctic tern spotted at Ludington, MI yesterday.

Cool! Terns migrate very far and are commonly uncommon vagrants

I planted a Service Berry in the front yard and in the spring try to catch a sight of the Cedar Wax Wings as they pass through. What is it about watching birds?

Andy, we are blessed with seeing those beautiful birds from time to time. I'll never forget one time out west when we saw hundreds of them.

Dennis , you may not believe this but 2 years ago at Frankfort as I was coming in from the morning salmon fishing there was a pelican in betsie bay. Fortunately, I have witnesses to verify this! I have heard since that they occasionally will be seen on Saginaw bay as well.

That makes more sense Dennis. Have you noticed how many more sandhill cranes are around?

Strange that we see the cranes in the spring and they've tried to nest not too far from us but seem to move out. We've seen several around Marion Springs. Wife saw 4 just south of us today. Lots of them south of M-21 and around Laingsburg.

I doubt it. Here we had a strong west wind but Sandy came from the east.

I have been seeing lots of Painted and Indigo Buntings in the past few years...never had them here when growing up.

We see a lot of indigo buntings in the spring but not later so they all must be just passing through. We do get a few bluebirds and I saw some yet while bow hunting earlier in the month.
