Question:

Should pellets become unobtainable can wood logs still be burnt in the pellet stove? And visa - versa can pellets be used in a wood stove?

Answer:

No and no(with a maybe). There is one company that makes a pellet basket that they claim will burn pellets in a wood stove. The company is Energex Pellets at http://www.energex.com

You cannot burn wood in a pellet stove (ever) because of numerous reason including the fact that Pellet stoves use a different chimney type. The fireboxes in Pellet stoves are also very tiny.
