I have a 2011 Summers Heat 55-SHP10 pellet stove we bought from Lowes several years back. It was running fine last week and then suddenly it wouldn't fire and I was getting E-2 errors. After a little troubleshooting, I determined the upper auger wasnt working. This is where I need some help...I ran diagnostics and the upper auger wouldnt work at all. I switched the wires between the two auger motors and repeated - the upper auger motor started running, but sounds terrible. Bottom wouldnt work. Then I rewired to bypass the vacuum switch and the bottom auger motor started running (because they were still reversed wired). So...I'm thinking the upper motor is still dying and should be replaced, but what about having to bypass the vacuum switch? Should I replace it as well, or is there something else I can check? Thanks!

Is the vacuum switch in series with the motor? It sounds like it is. If so, your problem could be a lack of vacuum caused by many things, among them a bad combustion fan, a dirty stove, clogged venting, bad/cracked/clogged hose or fitting to the vacuum switch, etc. Make sure the combustion the motor is running at proper speed, too.
