Does anybody here use or own one? I'm looking into buying one and am looking for it's faults (if any)

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I currently have a Super Split. My Dad has had his Super Split since 1978. As far as I know, Dad has never had an issue with his, other than having to replace the engine one time. These are very durable and fast splitters. They do lack some power compared to a hydraulic splitter, but, I haven't found any wood that I could not split through with a second stroke. You do need to keep the beam clean so that the rack returns reliably, but, this is not a problem.

I like my SS .
The ss is a little dangerous, but you get used to the spread of the ram and a occasional flying split.
The ss is 6 times faster then my MTD 27 ton unit .
My 2 sons and i can split 11/2 cord of wood an hour .
The work table is great and you can stand up like a man and split .
I do load the splitter with a skid steer so lifting the large logs isn't a problem .
I bought my son line I gave the guys a CC# and he sent my new SS out .
I have the 6.5 robins motor and it sips fuel .
There is a SS knock off Wolf splitter that is much cheaper 1500 bucks if i remember correctly .
I bought a SS money isn't really an object for me . Im a equipment whore . John

I bought my SS back in the summer, went with the HD model, 6 HP Robins and production table. Robins engines are "on par" with Honda. So far it's split about 6 cord and is flawless. Paul McCann is a straight shooter, no worries. When I placed the order he told me when to expect delivery and notified me the day it was shipped. It came crated and well packed. They provided complete assembly instructions and it only took a couple hours to put together...no snags. The manual even explains that it needs a few hours to break in, at which point it works more smoothly. The production table of SS really improves the ergonomics of wood splitting.
If you go to arboristsite and search several members have posted reviews.
Let us know when you get one :)

Thanks for the reply's guys, I'm not sure if I'll get it just yet, It is on CL, 2yrs old, 6hp Subaru w/prod table, he is asking $2300 firm. I think if I'm going to buy one I'll spend the extra 5-600 and go new.

What do you guys think a 3yr old Cub Cadet (MTD) w/Honda mtr is worth on CL? I'd need to sell my CC 1st.

It's rare to see a used one available as most people wont part with them. If it's nearby you may want to go look at it before it's gone. See if it's clean and been well cared for, used by homeowner or commercially etc. Ensure the ram retracts easily from various distances. If it's still clean etc the price is very reasonable.
