Vacuums

We have a Hoover Platinum upright, and it does a great job. The big plus for me is the HEPA filtration, plus it's bagless. It will also do bare floors well. It's a bit heavy (which I see as a sign of robust construction), so I actually bought another one for the upstairs. So now we have 2 of them.
It's a bit bulky, so won't get underneath a bed, but the attached hose and wand do.

Thanks everyone for their responces. I ended up buying a "tune up" kit and really cleaning the hell out of it to try and eek a few more years out of it. I hope it goes well.
