The glass on our Vermont Castings winter warm insert cracked. We are looking to replace the glass. Should we get the Vermont Castings brand name glass or a knock off? There is a $250 price difference. Not sure if it matters.

Save a chunk of change -- get the after-market ceramic-glass. The stove manufacturers have too many markups. They buy the glass wholesale, dbl. the price to the supplier, dbl. it again to the retailer (+/-) & you end up spending about 4x what the wholesale cost of the glass is & 2-3x normal retail price.

Many folks have been pleased here with buying product from Onedayglass.com.

Clear ceramic "glass" is fitted and sold by most local 'glass' places such as Portland Glass and others. They fit the clear ceramic for fireplaces and wood stoves. Bring the cracked piece in for an exact fit and save the old gaskets for replacing.
We will be sending you the bill.
