There is always "hope for change". Stranger things have happened. The team we have running the ball right now sure don't have a clue and runnig the ball to the left is getting us nowhere.Bigjim13 said:Ejectr said:Well, don't look for any help from Washington. I wouldn't count on any big event in November to lower gas prices, especially when you look across the aisle and see who is running on the right!
Gas won't go as high as they are predicting. It would crush our still fragile economy, again.
Vermont's are great pellets but not sure how much movement you will see on prices this year. They are running full tilt around the clock to keep up with demand, why lower prices now?

I'd love to see Vermont offer their product here in Maine for a reasonable price. If dealers here can offer Okies, which are shipped from the Pacific Northwest, and offer them here for $270-$290 a ton, then surely they can offer a super-premium pellet from Vermont in the $250-$260range.
Luckily, it didn't get cold enough this winter to warrant super-premium pellet use. I went with the Maine Woods pellet all winter. High ash but great heat @$209 a ton. My total heating bill from the cool nights of August to this May will be $836. I t cost me almost that much to heat my hot water!(with oil, of course)
Is there anyone that can submit a post that doesn't slam or insult another person's view? I simply state my view without insulting other's views. There's always a ringer in the bunch. I understand the economics as much as you do. I'm just willing to admit the guy I voted for last time doesn't have it nor his team he brought in. My "hope and change " has changed to gloom and despair.grandfanda said:Sorry folks, but only those with no understanding of economics think the president and his policies are to blame for the current spike in oil prices.

It's funny you say that, I can get pellets from Maine cheaper than I can get Vermonts and I can drive to the VT plant. I find that funny.

IMO - the politics should be left out of it all together, I am sure there are other forums for politics.
Just my humble opinion

Amen, jdege. Noting the political slant of the posts, I was trying to de-politicize it since the president's policies are unrelated to oil prices. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I burned Vt wood pellets the year before, had a prebuy price, really liked them, needless to say, I didn't puchase Vt wood pellets that are manufactured 8 miles from my house, I purchased Okies for $25.00 per ton less. So much for "Heat Local" imprinted on the bag.
Wow! nice boiler wil... Do you have to use premium pellets in that thing? Sorry your local dealer doesn't "Think local"wil said:In May of last year when I stopped at the plant asking for a prebuy of 12 ton I was told by the production manager, "no prebuy, we can sell all we manufacture," I suspect that it will be the same this year. Thank you, I believe it will burn just about any pellet you want to feed it, in fact, I really don't see much difference in fuel consumption between a Home Depot pellet and say the Vt wood pellet or any other premium pellet. Actually, I find it really sad that a local pellet manufacturer, in the first year of production was wanting to supply local fuel to local customers without any transportation costs, selling fuel at reasonable costs, now they have changed those thoughts. Lets face it, transporting pellets say 150 miles to a dealer that is selling them for $10.00 per ton more than what thay can be purchased and picked up at the plant is taking advantage of the local consumer.grandfanda said:Wow! nice boiler wil... Again...your personal opinion.... not necessarily everyone's. My apologies as well.grandfanda said:jdege said:Ejectr said:Is there anyone that can submit a post that doesn't slam or insult another person's view? That's why I'm going to hit Crosby's soon and order what I need for next heating season. The way things are looking now peices will not be going down, unless heat oil drops.rparker said:That is the same price as pick-up from the mill. ($260 per ton).
Asked and was told that there "probably" won't be any spring or pre-buy discounts.
