If something in a steel zc woodburner fireplace is going to warp, is the door the most likely prospect? Cause most likely to be overfiring? What kind of temperatures likely to do it---surge or sustained temps?

Newbie questions, but wondering.

Not sure what kind of unit you are talking about.....cheapo open fireplace Zc's are made of very lightweight sheet metal (aluminized or galv sheet) and have a lot of bends in them as well as firebrick lining. They are not likely to warp - almost never happens. Beside, they are not made or designed to burn hot - just a couple logs at the time.

The more efficient build-in stoves (that look like fireplaces) are VERY heavily built, often weighing in at 500 lbs! Given typical stove construction, it would seem as if the area most subject to warping would be the baffles or other areas high in the firebox - but, of course, it depends on the design (or lack of it).

OK. Thanks for the info.
