My Oak & Hickory stack from spring is being eaten by a black bug, looks like an ant with wings. Gotta photo but can't use photobucket anymore. Do termites eat like that? Never had it happen before.

Can someone suggest a site for hosting photos.

Carpenter ants are black, look like ants (because they are) and grow wings. They don't "eat" wood per say, they just burrow in it to make a home. They excavate wood chips. If you see wood chips, probably ants. They prefer partially decomposed wood because it's easier to tunnel in.

Sounds right. do I spray the stack?

It is split and stacked off the ground for 6 months or so now. Some is small rounds, my boiler likes them better. it gets more sun than most of my stacks and is pretty open to the wind.

I need to find a photo hosting site, anybody think they found a good one?
