Question:

Question I have a Heatilator Fireplace,it has a lever on the top front for the Damper Control, however there is also a notched slide lever on the right side what is this for and how do I use it???

Answer:

My guess is that it is an outside air intake. I cannot tell you from here which way is open or closed, but you should be able to figure that out.
This helps by bringing in outside air to the fire so it does not use as much room air, which you've already paid to heat.
