I just got this wood stove and would love more info if anyone knows more about it. I am particularly curious about the front and side compartments.

The front glass does not show the inside of the stove. It's welded on the front, but the main body is a solid cylinder. Is it like that to offer a lower temp cooktop surface as opposed to the main body cook surface?

On the sides I know that the slide is for air control, but what are the flip top and side compartment (for lack of a better word) for?

Thanks for any help

The compartment with glass on the front looks like it could be a small oven? Does it open, like a door to get in/out?

Looks like an old Orley stove. Just a guess, but maybe the flip top is for dumping unregulated startup air to the fire?
