    Question:

will a direct vent operate in the event of a power failure? I am going to purchase a variable btu-14-28.000 direct vent, are these better than a fixed btu model? thank you scott

    Answer:

Yes, most all modern direct vent appliances will work without electricity. A variable valve is nice because it allows you to use the unit over the entire season and adjust it according to outside temperatures.
