How's it split? Thinking possibly elm.
 
I'll split a piece tonight after work and see...I'll take a pic of the inside of the wood too! Elm is usually much harder to split and stringier right?
 
Red Maple. The bark on Norway Maple is more like Ash bark, with diamond patterns. This might also be Silver Maple, but I don't see a lot of Silver Maples so to me it looks more like REd maple.
