Can somebody please help me ID this hardwood? It's been aging in the back for at least two years so I don't have any leaves for reference.

When cutting it kind of smells almost like a burnt sugar type of aroma... Or that could just be bad saw blades. Any help is appreciated, thank you for your time!

Cherry is my guess. I burn a lot of cherry, but I'm used to seeing bark on it, or new splits.
