Wondering what kind of wood
I've got here? It was free, and already cut! It's been down and cut for at least 6 months. The rounds are crazy heavy. Doesnt split too bad by hand. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361151022.808571.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361151048.354161.jpg

Looks kind of like basswood to me.

Basswood was my guess too. Cheers!

yeah, looks like basswood. Good shoulder season wood, I'm betting it feels light already (looks to have been dead a while).

That is Maple Either Hard or Norway. NOT BASSWOOD!

Never seen any Basswood that looked like that....

That's FIREWOOD!
The Basswood I know, the bark peels in long strips & is light. Good carving wood.

Not Norway

Crazy light = good chance it would have been basswood

Crazy heavy = probably not basswood
