Can i get some help identifying this wood. it's hard and heavy.

It was in a load of wood from a local supplier. The load included honey locust, ash, and some maple. I thought this might be cottonwood, but it's seems too heavy. I'm in Colorado and whatever this is came from either here or maybe Nebraska.

Thanks for any help.

It doesn't appear to be Ash or Maple. I've seen Black Locust but not Honey...that grain looks somewhat like BL. Have you got any pics of the bark?

Looks like catalpa ,but that is a pretty light wood when dry.

Thanks guys. I can't find any pieces with bark on them. It's kind of sweet smelling if that helps.

I have no clue but, take a pic of the end. Growth rings and sap wood seem to help a lot of guys on here ID stuff

this should help. Is this black locust?

I started to say honey but the bark was throwin me off

It's not honey locust. I have a bunch of that and it's kind of pink in color.

Oh well, I'll just burn it and stop worrying about it. I guess it might be some kind of oak.
