Wood Stove Choices - Large & Modern

I'm looking to get a wood stove as an alternate/backup heating source. I've used them for over 20 years but was never involved with selecting one. I've built a new home and want to add one.

I'm looking for some ideas for a modern wood stove that's large. I'd also like to be able to cook on it if needed. Efficiency is important and I'd prefer something on the "fancier" side. I looked into an add-on furnace type but it won't work for me.

Look at the blaze king chinook and the regency pro lines. They are fairly big stoves with a more modern look. I am sure there are others that would fit the bill as well but those are the first ones to pop into my head. As far as the looks of the ashley there are lots of stoves available with that aesthetic look at jotuls hamptons and blazeking ashfords

Just upgraded from Wood to Pellets. Blaze King King. Great Stove. Just got tired of Ash in house, actually got tired of Wife complaining about ash in house in Spring. Gave away 10 cords of Stacked/Split up wood too. Her Niece will think firewood comes already to burn.

I find there is more dust and way more maintenance with pellets than wood. Not to mention the fact that you need power to have heat with pellets. Personally i dont see pellets as an upgrade. But thats me. Doesnt mean it isnt to you

I would'nt consider that an upgrade either, the King can make heat all day long without making any noise whatsoever..
All the pellet stoves I've been around would drive me the hell outa the house with all the noise they make >..

I consider my switching from pellet stove to (BK) woodstove an upgrade. And the wife complains a lot less now.

There are alot of crazy designs in Europe. Most of them wont heat big sqft due do smaller homes in Europe. They typically have small fireboxes and take 12 inchs or smaller splits.
