This hard maple came down in the May 21 storm, running back in and the cutting took a total of 45 minutes.

While I was cutting one round some sparks flew, ended up being some dirt, time I put the file to it.

25 rounds tonight, if I can do that or more we'll have a chit load of wood come winter. Working in that area tonight proved that I need to thin out some of the smaller beech trees.

The first few rounds had some rot in them but the rest is all good, so far.

This is the area that a guy was coming to check, he was thinking about buying the hard maple sap but that same night the storm hit. I don't dare call him again, he's a jinx!!!!

We like the beech & hard maple for those cold snaps.

Locust would probably do well there along the brook. The first house I owned had a creek behind it and it was lined with locust. Also several areas at the farm I cut at has a lot of locust, not exclusivly but many on the creek banks.

Watching the weather this morning for our area, tonight they are calling for temps in the low 40's, the wife might want a fire.

zap, we got down in the 40's overnight too. The high today is 70 and that is where it is right now. We had to go to the city this morning and got back around 1:30 and it was 67 then. A beautiful day in my book! Looks like we'll be in for some rain again. We can use it. We lucked out yesterday and got a bit over 1/2" and that perked the corn up as it was already curling. Looks good today.

Yes, it was eating up the hard maple. I did hit some dirt in the bark but it still seemed like it was throwing the chips pretty good. The plans for cutting tonight were put off, stopped over to talk with my father, while I was there my aunt an uncle pulled in, that extended my stay a bit longer but we had a nice time.

It was in the mid 60's here which felt great, just having a nice warm cup of coffee. I was talking with our neighbor last night on the phone, he had a big pine come down a year ago, he wants me to come down so I can see if it's a job I can tackle, damn trees!::P

It fell from his property onto our property, I think our property in that area is the start of the hill.

I finished bucking up this maple tonight, once I get a few more trees done in this area I'll haul the splitter up. Once that is done we'll take the Ford 250 with the trailer to haul the wood out.

Pic 7705 is just down the trail from where I was cutting tonight, two more maple up next, mother nature keeps on giving.

I wish, both saws (the chains) I had with me tonight will be on the grinder tomorrow night so there ready for the weekend. I'll work on the pine tomorrow that came down on the property the house is on.

The smaller saws will see some time tomorrow.
