xxv door and ash door lineup?

just got the stove home and uncrated. when opening the main door to get to the ash door, i notice a large gap at the top of the ash door. the bottom of the ash door and halfway up the sides are flush, but the top curved area is open a good inch or so across the top? this normal? doesn't look bent or anything. didn't see any good pics in the manual.....? thanks.
