1. Is it OK to push the pellets down into the pellet insert? I have a Lopi AGP insert, and when I add pellets to the front part of the hopper, I can feel that there's a lot of room behind. I've been pushing them in gently, then basically refilling the visible part of the hopper again. Runs all night just fine.

2. Is it a good idea to let the stove/insert run entirely out of pellets once in a while, so as to be able to vacuum out the empty hopper area of fines?

Thanks!

Richard

I always 'flick' the pellets toward the back. Some stoves can't pass fines/ dust well and it builds up around the auger. If you recognize your stove to have this issue, as said above, it is a good idea to do as you said. I'm fortunate that my stove allows it all pass down into the fire pot.
