2000 Whitfield profile 20 Wont feed after initial start up

Hi,
I have a profile 20. It will start and feed pellets to begin with. It has self ignite, it is kind of slow to ignite. The flame gets really large then the pellets will stop feeding. I was on here earlier and was reading something similar but my computer died and now I can't find it again. I have contacted a tech but he says he wont be able to get out her tell 12/30. I have clean the inside and the venting well. Is it a possibility that my combustion fan could be gunked up? Please, needing some help

Sounds like you might have a bad photo-eye. It senses, via light, fire in the stove and once satisfied will allow the stove to operate normally. If you do a search here in the forum, you should be able to find some trouble shooting steps as I seem to recall this was discussed not that long ago.

I have to agree with Eric - at least as a place to start. I have the Profile 30, so assuming it is similar in form to what you have, here is what has worked for me. I thought that my photo eye was bad too, but it turned out that it was just dirty with dust, and as such, unable to 'see' what was going on. If you are not familiar with the photo eye, and assuming your stove is stock, the eye is located at the top of the pellet feed shoot just above the burner tray. If you get a small mirror and flashlight, you can hold the mirror at the bottom of the feed shoot at a slight angle and use the flashlight to illuminate up the shoot. The photo eye is upward to the left on the other side of a piece of amber / orange colored glass. I use a long, artist-style brush to clean the glass each time I clean my stove. One a year, I access the actual eye from inside the metal housing within the pellet hopper and vacuum out any dust collected within this housing. ***If doing this, be very careful not to loose the housing screws amongst the pellets in your hopper.*** Remove the screws slowly, and account for each one. If you are nervous about this, empty the hopper, and cover the auger area with a rag. Then, if one or more of the screws falls, you can recover it prior to it getting into the auger area. If you loose one, DO NOT run the stove until you get the screw out. It can jam the auger. It is possible to remove the metal cover without fully removing the screws, but I always fully remove them, avoiding the possibility that one does fall off as I pull the cover upward. It is an easy job, but just take your time. Hope it helps!

How long, specifically, does it feed before it stops feeding pellets? Ignore the burn time, just watch the auger feed and time it.

sorry for not responding soon. no blinking light I cleaned the crap out of it. Just decided to say screw it. Bought a heailator ncab50.
