Hello
Well it is May 2025 and the 6x6s are still looking đź‘€ good after 3 years:)
click here to see 6x6 upgrade
Also we got our garden planting done on time this Memorial Day Weekend.
Besides saving some money by using seeds left over from last year as a bonus this year our town landfill has made some compost for their good tax paying residents that has been tested to be safe! No One wants dirty dirt! LOL
So we used our allotment for the garden. :)
This years cost for plants, 3 bags of Plant-Tone organic fertilizer and plants such as tomatoes…etc $155.00
This is 20’ x 6’ or 180’ square feet.
Is your garden planted? How much did it cost?
How big is it?

the garden isn’t fillet planted yet. I have plantlets for pole beans and zucchini starting in my kitchen window.

I’m mostly getting back into it this year as the last couple years were too busy for me. The wife had me start them, but lost interest. This year I planted maybe 5 (I think 7 gallon) tubs for her and out in the regular garden 4 San Marzanos tomatoes. The zucchini plants will go out in the regular garden. The bunnies and woodchucks won’t bother zucchinis any more than tomatoes. All the stuff in the tubs would be mowed, lol.

So small. But that’s ok. It’s better to be small and have one than regular sized and have it get away.

Yes good to have something with the food prices these days and they always taste better fresh from the garden
Besides the big boy, we got what they call whopper tomato plants this year! See how they differ. :-)

We get a bunch of our plants from a local vo-tech school that has an agriculture program and buying from them supports that. I put in a new raised bed this year, nothing crazy but I have (3) 4x8 raised beds now. A little bit of everything in them. I had to pay for manure this year as everyone has switched to selling it, can't find free from my usual sources. So we have around $100 invested in it this year. The plants have been in the ground for a few weeks now and are already taking off. We got bonus strawberries that came back from last year and got some bonus plants from the compost bin.

Got ours all planted last weekend. Would guess it to be 60' x 12'. Got maybe $20 max in seeds. Also got apple trees, pear tree, cherry tree, raspberry patches(red, black and added gold this spring), strawberry patch, rhubarb, and grapes. Just added a peach tree this spring.
