That second picture is just wrong.
Surprised the trees still look so good...

It does jar the mind. I saw another picture of a fellow skiing down the beach to the water.

yeah, it made me think of that AI generated picture of some folks in the '40s German army...

Skiing to the beach can be common though, "up here", not down there. I've waded through hip-deep snow to get to the beach on the south shore here early 2018. Though I admit snow on the beach was something I was not used to either.
Being on the beach *while it snows* is fantastic though, no one there, eerily quiet.

Palms can be fairly cold hardy. These might be Mexican fan palms.

Our palms handle freezes. Any time it drops below 15 they don’t look so good in the spring. And a few died sure out 2018 cold spell.

It looks like a fun day here winds to 80K and snow.
They don't say how much but white-out conditions
and blizzard conditions are being warned. Think I just
hunker down sit by the fire and read a book
Maybe I should have stayed in bed

...with that book!

The last wind gust we just had knocked out the cable for about 10 minutes but not the power, looks like we could be in for a long night.

The three lanterns a charged up along with the extra batteries. The three rechargeable flashlights, two headlamps and the worklight are charged up too.

We don't burn firewood with the high wind gust even though we've never had a problem, I'll burn down what's left and then use the furnace until the high winds are out of this area. The last wind gust map I saw had us getting 58 mph wind gust.

The last of the coals are burning down, that will be the last of any wood heat for today/night. I did get my third session in on the treadmill, we haven't lost power yet so I thought it would be a good idea I finish up most of what I had planned, four sessions had been my plan.

This showed up in our long range forecast, we could get a storm later this week with snow & ice. I'm not sure who else could be involved but watch your forecast.

It looks like we're in for some possible power outages.

I hate ice storms. They are really damaging and dangerous. Stay off the roads folks and don't park the car under any trees.

I guess Saturday & Sunday is another storm, possibly worse. I haven't seen any tracks the storm will take but they should be putting something up soon.

This has been an old fashion winter for us, cold azz weather and then snow, we received another 7 to 8 last night. The wet heavy stuff that caused some power outages but we didn't get hit with any.

They're saying the next two storms will dump a total of 7 to 14 inches of the white stuff, the first storm is Thursday and then on Saturday & Sunday.

Don't you just love Lake Effect Snow NOT
Meanwhile, we now have 4 inches of snow
can run the snow machine around the hay fields
Have plowed the lane once so far this winter
They say we will get snow tomorrow and Saturday but
I'll not hold my breath

Freezing rain tomorrow from 4 am to 11 am or so. Schools delayed but my wife has gotta get to the hospital at 7.
Going twice the distance because the shortest route contains too many steep and curvy hills.

We didn't get much snow from this last system but that's ok with me. Even though we have some winds today (nothing real bad) I used the snowblower, getting behind that for over an hour is better than any treadmill workout, I was drenched when I came in. That's my fault for dressing like I would be sitting on the tractor for hours.

@stoveliker , we hope your wife has a safe trip, ice sucks!

Here too.
I thought we averaged about 2ft of snow. The last 2 winters are hit and miss (more miss) on being able to use the snowmobiles to get out of the yard.
Bring on the snow, I still like the challenge, the old quad, old blowers and old snowmobiles are ready to go!

She made it. It was a slip and slide.
Sunday morning again ice and work...

We didn't get the snow they had called for from this last system but we did get some good winds. The next system coming through starting tonight will be another three to six inches of snow, this coming week I'll be moving snow off the sides of the driveway to the areas I have for snow storage, we'll see what the rest of February brings us for snow totals.

It looks like the systems will continue, hopefully we don't get any rain until most of the three feet of snow is off the roof. The sun is stronger so that should help out some.

Well the storm they say we are going to get has just started
Depending on who you listen to from 2 to 4 cm or 10 to 15 cm
and the last guy here says 20 to 25 cm so Sunday morning I will
wake up with between 1 and 10 inches of fresh snow. With the
way things have been so far this winter most likely 1 inch
Life is a groan, then we get snowed on or not.
