WOW, you talk about nickel and diming your customers.

If my supplier charge that much for delivery, pallet jack usage and assistance hand stacking, I'd be shelling out $283/ton. My propane supplier would be a lot happier though.

Im sure to minimize the cost to you, a guy could always go to the store and transport them himself or herself, then take them home and stack them as well......that should keep the cost down to a manageable number for you. Service? There are costs associated with such, the more services, the more it could (should) cost.

It is not really clear in the way I wrote my response. My dealer supplies "for free" what this guy/gale out east charges for. The per ton cost on the pellets is basically the same. A flat $10 delivery fee (total, not per ton), used his mobile forklift to move the pallets to the garage, used his pallet jack to move them around the garage to my preferred locations and helped me stack 2 of the 5 tons.

My point is there are companies out there that know about customer service. Every component shouldn't necessarily have a price. This is as bad as the airline industry. I guess we should start to expect a rental fee on plates/forks/knives and seat occupancy surcharges in a restaurant.

couldnt have said it better myself, Tbone! When someone buys a pellet, stove, etc, one SHOULD look at the dealer and their level of service (or lack thereof)! The dealer you found obviously is a good one, helping you stack, move around, etc. And if that dealer were, say $10 more per ton, I bet you'd still buy it from him, wouldnt you? Its good to hear of folks who appreciate good service, and are willing to concede that it might actually be worth something to do business with them! Many companies wont even take the forklift off the driveway to place the pellets near a shed, or by the back hatchway, etc, basically afraid they'll get stuck or damage the lawn, etc.

For the past 2 years I bought my pellets from this place. I wont be this year. There letter is pretty much a joke along with the price. This is not early buy. I bought 6 ton from them at 205 a ton for barefoot the last 2 years. Now with the tax break along with selling so many stoves there starting to jack up the price. I was close to sell my Omega and patch up my wall and tell them to bite me.

tax break in NY? did i miss something? I am paying 268-289 a ton doing all the labor myself.

Wow, $269 in April, such a desl. I would keep looking. Don't forget it becomes a buyers market real soon. Myself when I run out in a couple weeks am going to go buy a ton of corn since it has dropped to $182 here, and thats no bargain but I'll take it.

Ashleighs Hearth and Home i passed by the other day 279 per ton and they have a fork lift instead of loading and unloading

For what brand of pellets? Last time I called them, they had a brand I would never use (junk).

I can't believe how last year at this time 279 a ton was fine since oil was so high. This year, I'll probably be using the pellet stove as supplemental heat to the oil. Last year it was the total opposite.

Seems to me that's one of the advantages of pellets. As prices for one fuel and then another change, we can adjust our fuel source to keep our average heating cost lower.

Just so people get a heads up from 4 manufactures there is a price increase of $10 coming in June. I am a dealer for New England and we received the paper work in the mail informing us of the increase. 3 others are also saying $10 increase that I contacted looking to become a dealer for. For the area of Amsterdam I might be able to get you pellets delivered with a pallet jack for $246 per ton for loads of 4. I cant say yes for sure because I would have to hall out of the plant near Utica and not the normal yard. PM me with your address so I can see the distance if interested. Our idea is Sell Lots at a Low Cost not Few at a High Cost.

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the 2 plants? I have burned them many times but always from the NH plant. This is the first year I bought NEWP made in Schuyler NY.
