I have a Harman Accentra freestanding that will not push sufficient pellets into the burn pot for a flame to reach the compass, even with the stove temp, blower and feed rate all maxed out. When observing the feed light and auger, nothing happens for about 3-4 minutes and the heater burns most of what is in the pot. The feed light then usually comes on for 3 consecutive 30 second periods in quick succession. In most cases I see pellets feeding in for the first 2 30 second periods, but not for most of the 3rd 30 second period. The feed light stays on but the auger does not turn. The entire sequence repeats itself over and over. The stove is throwing decent heat but I am worried it will not keep up when it gets really cold. I thoroughly cleaned the entire stove and exhaust system at the end of last year, and the flame that is there looks very good, and the pellets are burning quickly. I'd appreciate any ideas on what might be happening. Thanks!

While I'm not intimately familiar with your accentra, its operation is very similar to what my xxv was.

From your explanation it sounds like the stove is working as designed. If I'm not mistaken the max burn on your stove is 5lb an hour, which would mean you cannot theoretically burn a bag faster than 8 hours. Is it burning different than last year? Is your esp probe clean?

Thank you for the reply. The stove is taking over 24 hrs to burn a bag right now, but it is not that cold out. Last year I was definitely seeing a much higher loading in the burn pot and much higher flame when running the stove on high. I also never saw the feeder light on but the auger not turning.

Update - Last night was the coldest yet, and the stove was not running in the morning. The status light was blinking in a 6 blink sequence. Still not sure what the issue is.

Status light error messages:

3 Blinks: Indicates that the ESP (Exhaust Sensing Probe)

has lost communication with the circuit board, or has gone

out of range more than allowed in a specified time. If the unit

seems to be operating properly, perform a manual reset*. If

the code persists, contact your dealer.

4 Blinks: Can occur only in Room Temp Mode and

indicates Room Sensing Probe failed or not installed. If a

Room Sensing Probe is then installed, the status light will

automatically reset.

5 Blinks (In Igniter Auto. Mode Only):Indicates that the unit

has failed to light within the 36 minute start cycle. To reset -

Turn Mode Selector to "OFF", then turn to either mode again.

6 Blinks : Indicates that the control has calculated poor or

incomplete combustion occurring for more than 25 minutes.

A six blink status may be set if the stove is allowed to run out

of pellets. To reset, turn mode selector to "OFF" then back

on to the desired mode. If the unit was not out of pellets, see

Troubleshooting section for more details.

Read the manuals trouble shooting guide. 6 blink is air related. partially block flue, fines box full, holes in pot plugged, stuck air inlet flap to name a few.

I've never experienced the six blink issue with our Accentra, but looking at the manual it indicates 6 blinks either means incomplete combustion or a lack of pellets. The troubleshooting section of the manual gives more hints, and the manual is available online if you don't have one (broken link removed to http://hearthnhome.com/downloads/installManuals/Accentra.pdf)

I'm sure others who have run into this will have better info.
