My manual for this unit keeps mentioning a damper on the left side panel of the unit, but the problem is that there is no damper rod anywhere on it, nor does it look like there ever was.

My questions are:

1) Did Whitfield make some models of this unit without dampers?
2) Where would the damper rod attach inside the unit if I did order one?
3) If it attaches to the fresh air intake, would adding a damper to the plumbing work as an alternative?
4) If it attaches to the exhaust, would adding a damper to that work?

The damper would be in the intake tube (controls intake air) You may have to take off or look through the back of the stove to find it. Someone may have removed or lost it.
