Any btu's left?

Hey guys. I have an outdoor boiler that will be used the first time this coming winter so kinda new to wood burning.
I came across about a cord of wood that has been sitting on the ground for a couple/few years is my guess. Most of it is solid except for what was physically to inching the ground. Is pungy about an inch or so into that corner. You can kinda see in the bottom right corner in the photo.
Is it worth grabbing all the wood?

I grabbed about a cord of oak that was similar to what you have. My advice would be split it large, get it stacked off the ground, and burn it. The oak I got was stacked in the round for two years. I split it, stacked it and burned it six months later my insert. It burned fast and hot. Not as good as normal two year seasoned oak, but definitely got son good btus. Hope that's helpful.

Thanks fattkidd. That would be the plan. Get it split and off the ground so it can dry out

I find that if will split along the grain it will burn ,if it breaks away in chunks its garbage

Great rule of thumb. I use it for campfire scrounging since you want dry but not rotten.
