Hey guys! I bought a home that has one of the Tulikivi 2700XL’s with the bake oven in it. We love it so far, but we are wondering how to get the bake oven hotter? I see all these stories out there of people making pizza in theirs but I can’t get the thermometer to read much over 300*? We have been doing the maximum efficiency method where we burn 50lbs/day split in 2 spaced 12hrs apart in the main stove and then between those 2 burns we are burning the whole daily 16lbs in the bake oven. But no matter what, still 300ish. Now it will hold 250-300 for like 24hrs, crazy, just won’t get any hotter. What are we doing wrong here 🤷

Perhaps you just need to add to cook time's? 300F should cover anything I can think of?
Does the stove manufacturer advertise that it will develop hotter cooking temps?
Sounds like a really nifty unit. I'd love to add one of these to my collection!
Hopefully a current user will chip in.

Is the oven vented? Maybe you start a fire in the oven, then scoop the coals and ashes out?

If not, you’re probably adding time.

I don't have a bake oven. You can cook in the firebox, too. I have a little 4-legged metal thing with a reach that can be slid into the firebox (after the fire is out).

I believe that @Prof is a regular user of the bake oven in his masonry heater.

This guy does some cooking in his. Maybe ask him for some tips.

I had a tulikivi but no oven in it. I used to cook baked potatoes and casseroles in the firebox after a fire. As you start to dial it in, I’d recommend weighing your wood and taking notes — weight burned vs oven thermometer. Weight is really the only way to quantify the fuel to standardize results.
